Lyrics

I had a girlfriend who had a very serious illness that I wrote this song for. I imagined that this was the voice of Spirit telling her that she was strong, dearly adored and that she would make it through it. And so she has.

River

Somehow you always survived when most would have broken
Strength and compassion you became
Though memories sometimes surround happenings now
The past is safely tucked away

And the dream has remained
It’s here for you to claim
The hope you’ve been hoping
Your body’s so sacred
All but truth will forsake you
Take my hand
I’ll teach you to sing

Your love is like the river
Flowing to the sea
Becoming the ocean inside of me
You love is like the eagle
Dancing with the sun
Just let it flow and the spell will be undone
Let it flow like the river to me

In moments of creation when singers sing and poets paint
All boundaries fade away
It’s that same instant Spirit screams out in joy
Only heaven centre stage

Possibility near
Courage led you here
You’re in a safe place and time
Let desire be your guide
As the earth falls aside
Take my hand
I’ll teach you to sing

Your love is like the river
Flowing to the sea
Becoming the ocean inside of me
You love is like the eagle
Dancing with the sun
Just let it flow and the spell will be undone
Let it flow like the river to me

Love is at your door
Are you gonna let her in
Love, love, reaches for you
Just open up your arms

Are you gonna let me in
Take my hand
I’ll teach you to sing

Your love is like the river
Flowing to the sea
Becoming the ocean inside of me
You love is like the eagle
Dancing with the sun
Just let it flow and the spell will be undone

It’s never ever too late
To let it flow
Let it cover me
Glaciers are melting
Darling do you see

Let it flow
Let it flow
Let it flow
Like the river
